The Quiet

It's that time of year
When the last snowflakes show their face,
When the sun tricks you by it's sunny beams
And the sky is interchanging every minute of the day.

This is the time of year I like,
when the air is cool and crisp.
The sun so bright
 and the snow twinkling in the light

But oh I yearn for the sunny warm days
When the sun beats down in golden rays,
And when the garden yields it fruit.
Those are the days that I wish for.

Here are a couple pics that kinda go with the made up saying/poem

 Monica dismounted and walked slowly toward Travis. 'What in the world was going on here? Why was Travis having a picnic with Uncle Micah of all people? Well I aim to find out!' She thought trying to come up with a mean thing to say. But Uncle Micah was a little quicker.
                "Well, hello there Nica what a pleasant surprise!" Micah said kindly. She saw Travis turn his head rather quickly and stare at Uncle Micah in surprise and shock.
                  "Um, yes what were you guys doing up here? Is this why you needed two burgers?" She retorted aiming her last comment toward Travis.
                  "Listen Nica," Travis glanced at Uncle Micah nervously, cleared his throat and went on, " I just wanted to, well, get to know your Uncle better and I asked if he would come up into the mountains with me." He finished and looked down quickly.
                  "And why couldn't you tell me that was what you were doing? Is there a little more to it, huh?" She said getting closer.

                                         ***********************************

 "Well, not until you tell what is wrong remember?" The smile immediately left her face and he regretted that he had brought it up.
                  "Well, do I really need to tell you?" She hesitated.
                  "Yes, please?" He pleaded.
                 "Monica you said you would," said Uncle Micah joining the conversation. She immediately paled, and both Travis and Micah were not expecting the next words that she would utter.

"Amazing Grace"
    Posted on unknown day! :)

                         I looked out at the dreary day. Why oh why did it need to rain today, of all days? I had looked forward to going on the Club Bike Ride, but no it had to rain. I looked down at my fabric and tried to concentrate on my stitches. As I got the fifth stitch in I heard Lars come in whistling Amazing Grace. How could he be whistling, couldn't  he see, well I guess he wasn't planning anything special so it was understandable.
                           Lars entered my room and sat down beside me. "What's up little sister?" he asked cheerfully. "There's not much going on at all today," I replied gruffly.
"Whew, sounds like you got out of the wrong side a bed, anything I can help with?"
"No, not unless you can make the rain go away and not come back until the bike ride is over!" I exclaimed.
"Oh, he said quietly, That's what the problem is, huh?" "Well all I can say is maybe you should forget about the bike ride and do some smiling!" With that he smiled and left the room singing amazing grace. That Amazing Grace! How can he sit there and grin, laugh, and crack a joke when it is raining outside? I turned back to my sewing and tried to forget the ride like he said but it didn't work. So I gave up throwing my sampler on the bed I grabbed my shoes and coat and hurried out the door.

                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                   As I headed for the creek I heard Father whistling a merry tune and shouting a hello to the neighbor across the road. As I looked toward the house I saw Mother come out with a strawberry pail, with a smile in my direction she headed for the patch. I didn't return the smile. Again how can everybody be so happy?
                When I got to the creek I saw  two deer standing there grazing. I took a step forward and they disappeared. As I sat down on a fallen log I noticed a cool breeze blowing daffodils and tulips in my direction. Like they were saying "Hello there are you going to sing?"  My answer was no, who in the right mind would want to sing on a day like this? As I sat there I noticed myself relaxing but the angry thoughts were still there. And then I heard a voice in my head say, " Whats wrong with the day, didn't God plan it, and isn't everything He does good?" And that is when it hit me there was nothing wrong with this day other than not having a bike ride and on God's list that wasn't needed. Right then and there I got down on my knees and asked forgiveness for my selfishness. When I got up and walked toward the house I heard Father and Lars singing Amazing Grace and then I heard Mother join them. And then I heard my voice singing, 'I once was lost but now I am found, was blind but now I see!"
Here is a sneak peek of the third chapter.
 Monica burst to into the kitchen throwing off her coat. Uncle Micah followed close behind.
      "You are pretty fast but I think I beat you by a second or two," Monica said still dodging Uncle Micah's teasing hands.
         "I think it was a tie fair and square," replied Uncle Micah.
        "No I thi-," Monica was interrupted by Mother.
         "What is all this about?" "Did I miss something?" Mother asked.
        "Oh, um well we were uh," Monica looked at Uncle Micah with a questioning glance. "We just had a little race from the barn to the house that is all." finished Uncle Micah.
      "Why from the barn? Were you guys talking about something I should know about?" Mother asked timidly.
          "Um you know I should probably go wash up," said Uncle Micah. Monica gave him a  sorrowful look as he passed by her. But she knew he was only washing up now to leave them alone.
          "So can you tell me anything or are you going to come up with an excuse too?" Mother asked.
          "Mother I think we need to talk. I went out to find Uncle Micah this morning to ask him what's going on. You know what he told me?!" she asked.
          "Well probably that he was sent away and that h-,"
           "What! He was sent away?" Monica interrupted.
          "He didn't tell you that?" Mother seemed to turn kinda pale.
          "No he told me to ask you a couple more times before coming back to him."
          "He what??" exclaimed Mother in a horrified voice. "Oh why does he think I should tell you when he can tell you himself so much easier?"
           "He said it would be good for you, I did't really understand that but you might," put in Monica.  Mother just stared at her for several seconds then left the room.
            'Why did mother stare at me like that? I was just telling her what Uncle Micah had told me. I have got to figure this out even if nobody will tell me.
With that in mind she hurried to the washroom to wash up.
                                            *************************
  Monica filled her lemonade glass to the brim and walked over to join her friends. Miriam was leading the group as usual. Monica gave a sigh, 'Why does she always take the lead? But then again somehow she is my best friend. She is so outgoing you can't help liking her, except that she leads everything!'
                    "
Monica, over here! " Miriam shouted, interrupting her thoughts.
                   "Coming!" She replied with shout just as loud.
                   While she made her way over she glanced toward the group of boys in the corner. As she scanned them, one she had never seen before looked up and gave her a bold wink. She quickly looked down, her face growing red. She hurried to her friends and quickly sat down. When she heard the conversation topic she wished she could disappear.
                    "Miriam? Who is the new boy?" asked one of the girls who's name was Rachel.
                    "Oh the new boy? That is Shawn Harvey's nephew," said Miriam.
                   Monica almost got up and strode away, because of her embarrassment, but to her relief the subject was changed. Though it really wasn't any better.
                     "Hey Monica who is over with your mom?" asked Sarah one of the oldest of the group.
                       "Oh, um , he is Mother's brother, Micah" she answered shortly.
                      "That's funny I don't remember your mother ever saying she had a brother, though she did talk about sisters," said Miriam in a curious tone. "Why did you never tell us about him?" At that the girls started asking all kinds of questions.
                   "What is he like?"
                  "Where is he from?"
                  "Is he lot's of fun?"
                 "Is he like a new father to you?" With that Monica put her hand in the air and silenced the group. "He is an amazing man. He is very creative with his hands, he's a great teaser and yes he is like a father. Also he said that he plans on staying and taking care of me and Mother," she said this all in one breath and then paused for comments. 'Why did I say that, none of that was true.'  All of them were amazed and then yet another girl of the group, Sarah, said,
                   "I remember something about a Micah, they say he murdered someone and they didn't see any sign of him until this year."
                         Monica gasped.
